South Carolina State Supplements for SSI
As of 2015, the federal benefit rate dictates that a claimant of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can receive a maximum of $733 per month in federal benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA). However, the majority of states in the U.S. offer an additional benefit known as state supplemental benefits. Typically these benefits are provided to individuals to compensate for their cost of living.
South Carolina provides state supplemental benefits through its Optional State Supplementation Program (OSS). Only disabled residents who are residing in licensed Community Residential Care Facilities are eligible for OSS.
