- Phone: You can apply over the phone by contacting the SSA's toll-free customer service at 1-800-772-1213.
- In-person: You can apply in-person at your closest Social Security field office.

The VR provides services that help individuals with disabilities with preparing, securing, and maintaining employment. The VR requires everyone to apply for their services to guarantee they serve people with disabilities that actually need their help.
